Meeting Minutes 1/25/05

Brian Lessard officially started the meeting at 6:30.

We will be alternating speakers with short education segments (4hrs) so our schedule should be as follows:
March 29 - speaker
May 31 - Construction Terminology class
July 26 - speaker
Sept 27 - Class on using the HP-12C (and 6 functions of a dollar?)
Nov 29 - speaker

We will be offering two courses (not including Barry's usual Dec USPAP update) the Historic Property course (tentatively in June) and the 2-4 Family 7hr course (tentatively in August) I am also looking into courses on appraisal review, and Barry mentioned that Trans American will be offering courses on Manufactured housing and FHA review sometime this year (email Barry for more info on those!)

Other suggestions for education offerings included a reviewing class, and courses on report writing, appraising the oddball, WinTOTAL, FHA review.

Speaker suggestions included a commercial developer, a representative from the DOT, from the State Troopers on safety, from the banking commission, and Barry is working on someone from Freddie Mac.

We also spoke some about workshops for acquiring a designation. Those interested, please email me, and I'll speak with the folks who have volunteered to run it. The intent is to have workshops every other meeting to assist you in developing a narrative report for submission with your application for designation. The spacing allows you time to work on the report on your own between workshops.

A side note, Stephen J. Page asked that we please use the chapter website. There is a forum there we could be using for things like discussion of these topics, and there have actually been a couple of non-NAIFA appraisers who have signed up and posted there...a good way to find folks for referrals, to bounce difficult properties off of, and to possibly recruit new members. It's there for you guys, use it! Thanks!
